Release notes: AI Agent Skills, new currencies, renewal email customization, and more

3 min read

August was about making Freemius easier to integrate, more localized for buyers, and more flexible for makers.

The biggest update is Freemius AI Agent Skills. It lets coding agents integrate payments, subscriptions, entitlements, checkout, and customer management into a SaaS product without having to figure out the Freemius APIs from scratch.

We also added Swiss Franc and Serbian Dinar support and gave makers more control over annual renewal emails. We shipped a collection of smaller improvements across the Developer Dashboard and Checkout, too.

Integrate Freemius with your SaaS using AI Agent Skills

Integrating payments and monetization into a new SaaS product shouldn’t require you to spend hours reading documentation before you can start selling.

Get started with Freemius

Built for the success of software sellers and their products

That’s the idea behind Freemius AI Agent Skills: a reusable set of instructions that helps AI coding agents integrate Freemius into your software.

Instead of figuring out the integration patterns yourself, you can give your coding agent a simple prompt, install the Freemius AI Agent Skills package, and let the agent implement the integration.

The skills work with coding agents including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and more.

They help your agent implement the complete monetization flow, including:

  • Pricing tables: Display your plans and start the Checkout flow directly from your SaaS.

  • Checkout: Add Freemius Checkout in overlay mode so customers can purchase without leaving your application.

  • Entitlements: Gate premium features and actions based on a customer’s plan.
    Freemius entitlements
  • Customer Portal: Embed a customer portal where customers can manage, upgrade, or downgrade their subscriptions.

The goal is simple: make integrating monetization feel like part of building the product, rather than a separate project you have to figure out afterward.

AI-assisted development lets you build products faster. Your payments and monetization infrastructure shouldn’t slow you down.

Sell in Swiss Franc and Serbian Dinar

We’re continuing to expand Freemius Checkout’s local currency support. This month, we added Swiss Franc (CHF) and Serbian Dinar (RSD). That makes it easier for makers to offer localized pricing to customers in Switzerland and Serbia.

To enable either currency, go to Developer Dashboard → Plans → Pricing and add the currency to your pricing.

Customize your annual renewal reminder email

Freemius automatically sends subscribers an email before an annual subscription renews. The reminder tells customers when an upcoming charge is scheduled and it can reduce unexpected renewals, churn, and payment disputes.

Starting this month, makers can customize that email.

You can use the additional space to remind customers about the value they’re getting from your product, highlight features you’ve released over the past year, or share other relevant information before their subscription renews.

To customize it, go to Developer Dashboard → Emails → Specific Email Customization and select the Annual renewal reminder email.

It’s another opportunity to give customers a reason to keep using your product before the next renewal.

Other improvements

August also included several smaller improvements and fixes across Freemius.

Making monetization easier

A lot landed this month. AI Agent Skills make it easier to integrate Freemius into new SaaS products. Local currency support now reaches Switzerland and Serbia. Makers also have more control over renewals and licensing. Together, these updates make it easier to start selling and keep your monetization experience working.

As always, what you’re running into shapes what’s next — so keep the feedback coming.
