Checkout UX Improvements for PayPal Errors and Language Selection

This week we’re rolling out some optimizations to our Checkout to provide a better buyer experience.

Graceful Handling of PayPal Errors

We noticed that in some rare edge cases, if the connection to PayPal failed, our Checkout could get stuck in a loading state with no apparent way for the buyer to try again. Although this rarely happens, it can still create confusion and interrupt the payment flow.

We have rolled out an update where our Checkout now properly detects such issues and gracefully communicates them in the UI, giving buyers a clear way to proceed.

Better UX in the Language Selector

We noticed a regression in the language selector where the selected language would always appear at the top of the list, even if the user selected a different language.

We have deployed a fix. Now, the language the Checkout is initially loaded with will always remain at the top. This helps avoid layout shifts in the UI when buyers switch languages, ultimately providing a smoother experience.
