Welcome to the changelog section of Freemius, here you’ll find our weekly technical update notes. You can subscribe to all posts via newsletter or follow us on Twitter to stay updated.

This week, we rolled out a few quality-of-life improvements to the Developer Dashboard.

Bug Fix for the Payment Refund Action

We noticed a UI bug where the Developer Dashboard would incorrectly initiate an API request to cancel the subscription associated with a lifetime payment when processing a partial refund. Since lifetime payments do not have an associated subscription, the request would eventually fail and create a confusing refund experience.

We have rolled out a fix so that partial refunds for lifetime payments are now processed without attempting to cancel a subscription.

Improved Team Member Page UI/UX

Freemius allows you to add team members to manage your product with different roles and levels of access. However, we noticed that the UI did not clearly explain that the email address being added must already be registered with Freemius.

We have updated the UI to make this requirement clearer and help makers avoid confusion when adding team members. We have also updated the documentation with additional guidance.

Freemius includes a marketing automation feature that sends emails after a product purchase and installation to collect reviews from your customers. This is a great way to build social proof based on genuine customer feedback.

For example, you can display these reviews in the Checkout to help boost your conversion rate.

Until now, this feature was available only for WordPress and App products. With today’s deployment, we are extending it to SaaS products as well. Seven days after a purchase, Freemius will automatically send the customer a request for a review.

The feature is enabled automatically for all SaaS products on our platform, so you do not need to configure anything to start collecting reviews. You can then use the Freemius API to fetch and display them on your website or pricing pages.

This week, we’re rolling out several UI enhancements and bug fixes in our Developer Dashboard.

Fixed HelpScout Integration UI

Freemius allows you to connect your HelpScout account to improve your support experience. Customer purchase and licensing data appears directly inside the HelpScout panel. In addition, you can connect HelpScout Docs, which Freemius will use within the built-in support form.

However, we noticed a small UI glitch that pushed some components of the integration form down the page. We have rolled out a fix and, in the process, refreshed the page design to make it more consistent with the rest of the application.

Improved Deployment UI

We noticed a minor alignment issue in the deployment UI within the Developer Dashboard.

We have fixed the issue, making the deployment interface cleaner and more consistent.

The WP SDK in-dashboard upgrade flow is designed to let users upgrade without leaving the product experience. In some rare edge cases, however, the PayPal payment flow could fail during that process.

We identified the root cause and deployed a fix, making the PayPal upgrade path more reliable for users purchasing directly from your WordPress product’s admin.

This week, we are rolling out a new feature in our Email Style Customization. This came in as a request from one of our makers, so we are excited to make it available. Up until now, makers could set a logo for their emails, but the logo size was capped at a maximum height of 50px.

With today’s deployment, you can now adjust the height of the email logo to a specific value of your choice. We hope this gives you more control over your email design and helps your emails better reflect your brand. If you have any feedback, please feel free to contact our support team from the Developer Dashboard.
