Supported Product Types
For WordPress products, Freemius supports various product types to cater to different business models, namely:
Single Products
This setup is ideal for freemium and premium models where you offer a plugin, theme, block plugin, widget or other individual product.
This product can be a combination of a free version + pro or a premium only version. The premium product can have multiple plans and pricing. Click here to create your first product.
Freemius does not support setup of products that are free or zero priced only. You must have at least one premium plan to create a product on Freemius.
Bundles and Memberships

How to set up WordPress Products
When setting up your WordPress product on Freemius, follow this recommended workflow:
- Create your first product. Here are the supported product types.
- Define the plans to offer on your website or pricing/upgrade page.
- Configure the refund policy, renewals discount, proration discount duration for your product.
- Next, begin the integration process on your development site by adding the Freemius WordPress SDK using this integration guide.
- Deploy the plugin. Basing on your product setup, a free and premium version will be generated by our special processor.
- Test the upgrade flow to ensure a smooth customer experience from installation of a free version to purchase and upgrade.
- When testing is done, set the deployment status to released
- Start distributing your product.
- Upload the generated free version to the WordPress.org repository. It will have the SDK that makes the upgrade process easier with the purchase/upgrade page from "Free" to "Premium" version. The premium version is served by Freemius once a customer completes a purchase.
- Share the checkout links on your marketing channels including your website, email sign-ups and social media.
After completing the checkout process, your premium customers will receive an email containing:
- A license key
- A download link for the premium ZIP
- Access to the customer portal to manage their licenses and assets.
- Support access to contact you for any questions or issues.
- Billing information and receipts for their purchase.
Create your first product
- Log in to your Freemius Developer Dashboard.
- Click on the "+" button next to the profile icon on the top right corner. Choose the "New Product" option from the dropdown menu.
- Select the "WordPress Products" option. Then choose from the available sub-types based on your offering. See the comparison of the Supported Product Types section above.
- Fill in the required product details, including, the store, title, slug and icon.
- Click "Get Started" button to create your product.
