We Are Hiring
Business Development Manager

Unlocking business growth through strategic partnerships and revenue optimization

Freemius is a SaaS startup that helps software creators around the globe run their business and accept payments, manage subscriptions & software licensing, get user-data, offer trials and (much) more.

We are a global diverse growing team (15 strong! 🦾) of product people, software developers, marketers, and designers, who are passionate about the open-source community and the creators’ economy.

Hi, my name is Vova Feldman, and I’m the founder of Freemius. I started the company with the vision of enabling software creators around the globe to make their livelihood from building, sustaining, and growing subscription-first software product businesses of their passion.

Freemius has grown organically through content marketing and community involvement. We are now proudly serving thousands of incredible software products and developers. It’s time for us to push the gas paddle and grow the business proactively and systematically 🪴

We seek a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and managing key accounts. The BDM will work closely with our sales, marketing, and product teams to drive revenue growth and expand our market presence.

Ownership
Not Just Accountability

If you see yourself working just as a means to get a salary, we totally respect that, but it’s not the type of mentality we seek. On the other hand, if your spouse/friends keep telling you that you have to stop caring so much about your work and your answer is “this project is my baby” that’s the exact sense of ownership we are looking for.

What You Will Be Doing

You’ll actively contribute to our revenue while learning the ropes of a growth-stage startup and the in & outs of sales at Freemius.

Your core task will be to prospect and develop leads, warm up the relationship, and convert them into qualified meeting opportunities for Freemius’s executives.

Your role’s main objectives:

  1. In-depth understanding of the Freemius platform, our unique value proposition, and the competitive landscape.
  2. Quickly develop an understanding of our ideal customer profile to target the best-fit companies for Freemius.
  3. Effectively showcase Freemius’s set of products and best practices through email, video calls, and social media.
  4. Understanding prospects’ needs and pain points and effectively communicating how the company’s software platform can help solve those problems.
  5. Develop a biz-dev strategy and a system through experimentation, and eventually grow a team of BDRs.
  6. Prospect your own pipeline of good-fit Freemius accounts.
  7. Outreaching to potential customers by generating conversations from inbound interest and outbound outreach.
  8. Nurturing leads up (qualifying) until a point that they’re interested in “buying”, as opportunities for our executive team.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor activity, as well as effectively communicate customer feedback to the product team to inform future product development.
  10. Identify new business opportunities and potential partnerships in the WordPress products, SaaS, and #buildinpublic ecosystems and beyond.
  11. Manage and cultivate relationships with key accounts.
  12. Attend industry events and conferences to stay up-to-date with market trends and identify new opportunities.
  13. Track and analyze key metrics to measure the success of business development initiatives.
  14. Work with our marketing department to collaborate on in-person and virtual events to generate demand.
  15. Develop and execute strategies for expanding Freemius’ market presence and revenue growth.
  16. Manage and prioritize your time so you consistently achieve your targets.
  17. Establish relationships with businesses & services commonly used by our target audience for generating cross-promotion opportunities and expanding our Partner Perks program with additional perks.
  18. Generating marketing opportunities with YouTubers, affiliate marketers, #buildinpublic and creators economy influencers, and other relevant parties with a followers audience that intersects with our target audience.

SysAdmin & DevOps

In the “background,” you’ll need to wear a SysAdmin hat to ensure our cloud-based infrastructure runs smoothly and scales. That involves things like:

You’ll also deal with some DevOps to help the engineering team (& yourself) work more efficiently. E.g., automating testing & deployments using CI/CD.
