Absolutely. Recurring revenue is a common use case, and most Freemius makers prefer subscription plans over lifetime licenses for various reasons. We support monthly, annual, lifetime, and unlimited subscription plans.

After setting up your pricing plans, you can create flexible coupons with various options, including exit intent, expiration dates, plan-specific validity, and limitations for new versus returning customers.

Yes! We fully support selling bundles of software products, as well as selling plugins, themes, templates, add-ons, and extensions.

Freemius handles many transactional and automated sales emails on your behalf (details are available in our documentation). You can also enhance email deliverability by verifying your DKIM records and using your own branded email address.

No, we don’t have exclusivity requirements like many other marketplaces or platforms. You’re free to sell your product wherever you choose, and any sales processed through Freemius are covered under our revenue-share pricing.

However, if you need Freemius to host licenses without processing related sales on our platform, a 7% fee is required for any licenses sold through third-party platforms and hosted by Freemius.

How can I migrate my existing users and subscriptions to Freemius?

We offer hands-on migration assistance. Contact our support team and we’ll create a step-by-step migration plan tailored to your business and sales platform setup. Whether you migrate from Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, EDD, WooCommerce, or Gumroad, we have your back! Active subscriptions will not be lost.

Yes. EU VAT, UK VAT, and US sales tax must be collected based on the customer’s EU country of origin or the US state they’re located in.

As a merchant of record, we handle VAT and sales tax collection, reporting, and remittance for all software product purchases at checkout, using up-to-date rates. Customers can provide their business VAT number at checkout for VAT exemption, with reverse charge schema functionality included out of the box. Freemius tracks all relevant information to streamline reporting and VAT and sales tax payments for you.

If you’re able to continuously add features, maintain your product, and provide support for free — kudos to you! But that’s not typical, and if you want to focus more on improving your software and offering excellent support, finding an additional income source makes sense.

Offering ongoing support and new features through a recurring subscription fee can benefit everyone. Free users will enjoy better-supported software while paying customers will appreciate the added features in the premium version.
