We are hiring

Head of Content

Freemius is a SaaS startup helping plugin & theme developers around the globe run their businesses with a platform to accept payments, manage subscriptions & software licensing, collect user-data, offer trials and (much) more. We are passionate about the open-source community and helping developers build prosperous, subscription-based businesses while working on projects they love!

During the past 4 years, we have managed to establish our blog as THE authority in everything related to the business side of WordPress plugins and themes. “Content is king” for us, and we are looking for a knight – a hands-on Head of Content that can work during European timezone hours.

This job opportunity is unique since we are still a relatively small team with a large customer base. There’s a lot of room to grow, and you get to have a genuine impact on millions of users.

Since the work is remote, trust and communication are essential requirements. We use Slack for day-to-day communications between team members and have weekly Skype meetings to catch up with each other.

We also have a weekly online team chess tournament – yes – we are those kinds of geeks.

Your first 1-3 months on the job

You’ll spend the first few days learning all about our content publishing and distribution process, hopefully providing some good tips and ideas for improvements along the way.

Right away, we’ll have you jump into managing the Content Calendar, getting familiar with the kinds of topics and messaging we use in our blog, and you’ll begin working on all aspects of the blog, including writing articles, guest posts, ghost posts, and distribution. Additionally, you’ll be reviewing/editing scripts and videos for our YouTube channel.

Part of your knowledge building will involve using the platform itself, getting connected with community members in our DEV Slack, and getting a handle on projects like our Release Notes, which we regularly publish and will help you get more familiar with the company.

You’ll be part of our team calls and involved in strategizing about how to move forward and lead our content marketing efforts, and by the time the first few months are over, we’ll have you fully on board.
